9/3

Well here we are! The annual September rollercoaster! This past series was a microcosm of this whole month I feel like; blown leads, errors, a bunch of home runs/strikeouts, and (hopefully not) poor Aaron Nola pitching. Friday’s game was just an absolute heartbreaker. They fall behind early (of course), Trea rescues them, and ALVARADO not Bohm cost them the game. I understand Bohm didn’t make the play which he’s made probably 10,000 times and he needs to make but he should not have been forced into that situation. The inning went as follows: single, fielder’s choice, single, walk, walk, Alvarado pulled, strikeout, error. If Jose could just have hit the strike zone he’d be out of it and not force Bohm to make that play. I don’t understand the hate Alec got. Anyway, Wheeler looked very good. Besides the Adames homer, 4 hits and 0 runs. Alavardo was crucial to the loss. Not Hoffman, not Bohm, that falls squarely on Jose. Also stay hot Schwarbs! Enough of the first game. Game 2 was a Nola masterclass. 4 2/3, 8 hits, 7 runs, 5 K’s, 3 BB’s. He was due for a start like this. It’s one word: infuriating. I don’t understand how he does it. You’d think there some urgency from him since it’s a contract year and he’s basically pitching for his price. And that price is going way way down. Right now, I don’t want him back on anything more than $150 million. Unless he does something in the postseason. But it’s not looking too good. On the bright side, JT, Kyle, and Trea went yard. JT going yard in back to back games is huge. He’s really not looked himself this season and we need him for the playoffs. Today’s game was enormous. Salvaging that last game to get out of the sweep was key because the Cubs don’t lose which is really annoying. As in typical leadoff fashion, Schwarber draws three walks, strikes out, and grounds to first. It’s hilarious that he’s hitting .190 and his OBP is .337 with an .800 SLG. Like I said before, JT going yard twice this series is huge. Ideally, we sweep in San Diego but just take two of three please.
