I was too lazy to write a post on the Twins series so I’ll do both the Twins and Jays series. The Twins series was just a big disappointment after the first game. During that series, I’ve concluded in my humble opinion that Johan Rojas should and will be the everyday center fielder. It’s like he’s Garry Maddox 2.0. I know Maddox is one of the best CFs in Phils history but early returns are looking up for the kid both offensively and most importantly defensively. He’s hitting .290 but he’s had so few ABs that his average is gonna fluctuate based on how he does. So if he goes 0-3 let’s not freak out that his average is .275 or somewhere around there. Speaking of players on fire, Bryce Harper. Hitting two bombs last night was huge for him. His power looks like it’s slowly coming back. And if it does come back, hopefully in October, look out! The pitching the past week hasn’t been fantastic but it’s hard to be good when your offense puts up 2 runs over 27 innings so I’ll give them a pass (except Nola). Dude you’ve gotta be better. There’s no other way to put it. 5 innings, 4 earned runs and 4 walks is not going to cut it against the Braves or Dodgers. Hell, even the Giants. I, as Mr. Armchair Manager would not put him in the playoff rotation. It’s too risky. Ideally, my rotation right now would be Wheels, Walker, Lorenzen, Suarez, Nola. Hopefully Walker can bounce back after the L last Saturday against the Nats. Side note: should be cool to see the Phillies play in Williamsport on Sunday. Too bad I couldn’t play there 🙁
